Pre-departure guide

  •  Pre-departure guide - Visa & ARC

Visa

Exchange students should apply for a Resident or Visitor Visa from the Taiwanese Embassy in their residence country before entering Taiwan with your acceptance letter from NKUFST.

After registering at NKIFUST, students can apply for Resident Visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Please also note that students who will study for one year must apply for Alien Residence Card (ARC) at the National Immigration Agency in Taipei within 15 days of receiving their Resident Visa. Applicants may request simultaneously for a Re-entry Permit (重入國許可). The ARC for the exchange students is valid for one academic year only and cannot be extended. For more information, please contact the National Immigration Agency.

NKFUST Insurance Policy

NKFUST regulations require each exchange/visiting student to provide proof of his/her Health and Accident insurance. Exchange students are advised to purchase insurance for the entire period of their stay in their home country before their arrival in Taiwan. Please note that all NKFUST exchange students are required to carry their own medical and accident insurance plans worth a minimum of NT$1,000,000 (≒USD 34,000) valid for the whole exchange period.
Students who are ARC holders and who have met the four month minimum residency requirement may purchase the National Health Insurance (NHI) plans with limited coverage which can be only applied during the 4th month (not before) of your stay in Taiwan.

*Pre-departure guide - Group Airport Pick-up

The group airport pick-up service (only from Kaohsiung International Airport/Taiwan High Speed Rail Zuoying station to NKFUST Dormitories) is provided upon request to all exchange/visiting students free of charge; however, it is restricted to several time slots. Students who request this service must complete the Group Airport Pick-up Service Request Form , and fax to +886-7-6011046 or email to helenyen@nkfust.edu.tw

 * Please note that the group airport pick-up service is not available for students who arrive at the Taoyuan Airport. It is also not possible to provide individual pick-up services if your estimated time of arrival does not coincide with the NKFUST scheduled pick-up times. However, NKFUST may adjust pick-up times if necessary.
Detailed information about the group airport pick-up service and transportation from airport to NTU can be found in the Handbook.

*Pre-departure guide - Volunteer

To help exchange students settle down and to acquaint them with student life in Taiwan, NKFUST will assign an NKFUST student volunteer to assist you during your stay at NTU. Each of you will receive a welcome email from your student volunteer in early July (1st semester) or early January (2nd semester). After receiving an email from your student volunteer, please reply directly to his/her email address. If you have not heard from your student volunteer by then, you may contact Office of Research envelopment .(Miss Ji-Ting Yan at helenyen@nkfust.edu.tw or +886-7-6011000 ext. 7013)

*What assistance to expect from your student volunteer?

♥ Volunteers can accompany you on registration day to facilitate any possible administrative communication issues such as visa, Alien Residence Certificate (ARC) and health insurance application at the various government offices.

♥ Dormitory check-in: Make contact with your volunteer before coming to Taiwan and inform him/her of your dormitory information and time of arrival. Thus he/she will be able to meet you at your dorm upon your arrival and assist you to complete the check-in procedure and to accustom yourself to your neighborhood if available.

♥ Other support and information concerning NKFUST campus life.
